Maren, a young queer woman fresh out of college, finds out that Ethan, Maren’s cousin and friend, has been arrested for child molestation. Years later, she visits her cousin in prison and, through flashbacks, navigates her family’s hidden past, her father’s homophobia, and if love should know bounds. 


About the Playwright: Morgan Dean is a Queens-based playwright and actor. Since moving to NYC after graduating summa cum laude from The Hartt School with a BFA in Music Theatre, Morgan has expanded beyond just musical theater. In 2016 they got involved in politics, working for Hillary for America, Jehmu for DNC, and Sister District NYC and is currently focused on activism within the queer community as a Board Member of National Queer Theater, and proud member and Social Media Coordinator for Ring of Keys: a collective of women, trans, and gender non-conforming people in musical theater. Although Morgan has always been a writer and had their poetry performed in NYC (FIRSTS, The Shrill Collective, Lemon and Ginger), this past year, Morgan discovered a love for playwriting. Thick Blood Thick Water is their first play and has been produced by No Man's Land Theatre Co., Broad Views on Broadway, the Summer Fresh Festival, and now Honey Dipped Productions. Morgan continues to write poetry and new plays, their favorite of which is called The Birthday Party, or Three People Who Are A Mess, an investigation of honesty, deception. and vulnerability and why  millennials struggle to have healthy relationships.
